Extending the Life of Your E-Cigarette

Extending the Life of Your E-Cigarette

There’s still an ongoing debate about the health benefits of vaping. Cancer research and anti-smoking charities are commissioning reports into the health effects of switching from tobacco to ejuice.

But one thing that isn’t up for debate is the affordability of vaping compared to smoking.

If you smoke 20 cigarettes per day, you could be spending upwards of £80 every single week. That same £80 will get you nearly 30 bottles of eliquid.

That’s enough to last you months.

In fact, when it comes to vaping, the only thing that’ll cost more than a couple of quid is the hardware you use. Your ecigarette, mod kit or vape pen. If you’ve made the switch for financial reasons, you’ll want to extend the life of this hardware as much as possible to keep your costs low.

Fortunately, keeping your in good nick isn’t as difficult as it sounds. Just follow this advice, and you’ll be saving even more money for even longer than before.

Tip #1. Treat Your Battery Right

The most important part of any vape is the battery. But for some reason, in a hobby where people focus on wattage and voltage, battery safety is often overlooked.

All vapes use rechargeable batteries. And as you’ll know from using a mobile phone, these things don’t last forever. Eventually, they’ll become less efficient and finally give up all together. But there are a couple of things you can do to extend the lifespan of that battery.

Use the right charger.

Plugging a rechargeable battery into the mains is a recipe for disaster. Don’t do it. It shortens the lifespan of your battery, and it can lead to spectacularly dangerous failure.

Don’t leave it plugged in.

If you have multiple batteries for your vape, you might be in the habit of using one and charging the other. Don’t leave it on charge all day. Again, it’s dangerous, and again it reduces efficiency.

Run it down once in a while.

Don’t keep topping up and topping up. Letting your battery drain fully before charging it can help extend the lifespan of your battery. And that’s going to keep costs down.

Tip #2. Watch Your Liquids

If you treat your battery right, you’ll only need to replace it every few months. The next thing to consider is the coils you use.

The amount of use you can get from a coil before quality degrades varies wildly. Some weeks it might feel like you’re changing the coil every four or five days. Other times you’ll rack your brain wondering if it’s been two or three weeks since you switched in a fresh wick.
This isn’t down to luck.

It’s down to liquids.

Sweeter, thicker vapes clog up coils
We all love a sweet vape. Fruit flavours, sweet shop favourites, sticky liquids of all stripes – sign us up right this second.

The problem is, these flavourings can clog your coil quicker than a tobacco or menthol flavour. If you’re 100% focused on saving money, then you’ll need to ignore your sweet tooth.

But with a pack of coils costing less than a day’s worth of fags, you’ll be fine indulging whenever you’re feeling a little flush.

Nobody likes a remix

Nobody wants to vape the same flavour day after day after day. Variety is the spice of life after all.

But switching from flavour to flavour can lead to lingering aftertastes that ruin your vaping experience. The solution is easy – just swap coils – but that’s something that can up your running costs.

The solution is simple. Stick to similar flavours, or do what a few of our customers do. Buy a spare tank. One’s for the morning minty wakeup, and the other’s for the afternoon of fruity relaxation. The coils last longer, and costs stay down. Easy!

Tip #3. Clean Up!

The final tip to extend the life of your vape is to keep it clean! It’s well worth stripping and cleaning your tank every few weeks.

We like to take our tanks apart, remove the coils and leave them to soak in hot water for an hour or so. As soon as they’re bone dry, they’re ready to use again, free from any lingering flavours or coil-clogging gunk.

Just make sure that tank is totally dry before you screw in a fresh coil, and your vape will be as good as new.

So there you have it. Look after your batteries, coils and tanks, and your vape will last longer. You’ll save money, and you’ll enjoy a tasty vape for months and months.
